Feed Mayor Bloomberg, Breed A Rat

Mayor Bloomberg, Breed A Rat
The criminal known as Mayor Bloomberg thinks he can sidestep the people and buy himself a third term. He hates pigeons because they would tell on him in a New York Minute. The logic that Scumberg presents that by feeding pigeons will only bring on rats is flawed. Rats don't need pigeon food to find sustenance. Don't feed the mayor and his one man political machine. It's time for a real change in New York City. It's time to end his reign of arrogance.

It is a sad commentary when humans have become so uncivilized that they are determined to kill or dispense with helpless animals. There is no way to excuse such behavior. Any person who would be so heartless as to kill a pigeon, or any helpless animal, has a depraved soul. We do not need cruel, inhumane persons in public office or in any position of power. A nation is judged by the way it treats its animals, and so are leaders. Also, feeding pigeons has always been enjoyed by tourists and by all compassionate persons. To say that feeding pigeons increases numbers of rats sounds deranged. That is clearly a political ploy to turn people against pigeons.
Also, pigeon shooters in Pennsylvania are a blight on this country and are barbaric. What has happened to this country when people have stooped to such a low mentality that they are centering their hostilities on an agenda to kill helpless creatures? It is deplorable and outrageous.

Bloomberg's a jerk in this respect. Pigeons are loved and fed in most Western European countries (and perhaps Eastern). I love them. I live in midtown Manhattan, East side, and my husband and I take turns walking out dog every day. We both have birdseed in our pocket or a little zip lock bag and throw some to the odd pigeon(s) we come across. It's winter! and the poor birds are probably starving. Also the sparrows fly down when we throw the seed. Actually when we leave our building with the dog initially, who always barks, a bunch of pigeons and sparrows fly to us right away because they are used to having some seed thrown to them. The sound of the dog's bark alerts them. Then I have to save seed in my pocket because when we come back after our walk to enter the building, they're there waiting!! They fly down to the ground next to us. Hey, I..we..have created a monster, ha ha. So, I throw more seed at the curb so when the doorman buzzes us in, they're not about to follow us into the building.
I love all animals, birds, etc. God's creation...His creatures. As we are.
Regarding rats...some people have them as pets. I've read that they have a sense of humour and actually laugh! I've heard the video. God's creatures too.

So true. Too bad that people of NYC were motivated in the general election by apathy and inertia. The pigeon advocates and other animal activists had their chance in the primary for electing Tony Avella, a true advocate for ALL the residents of New York City. But they chose to ignore this opportunity.

Rats do not eat the birds seeds that I put down.
I come across so many injured pigeons or pigeons that are poisoned or have wires or strings around their feet.
Our hawks are being affected by this as well.
Pigeons are very gentle creatures & we have to stop destroying or eliminating our birds & wildlife.
Perhaps we can have certain areas that are specified pigeon feeding areas.

Sincerely,
Arlene

There was no need to degrade rats by comparing them to Bloomberg. Rats are not power hungry, nor dot they use their servants (NYC Council) to overturn city term limits laws.
Bloomberg got reelected preying on people's fear of the economic collapse at Wall Street, yet we are suffering one of the worst financial crisis in the history of New York City.
He is all about controlling people and their behavior, and of course hating wildlife.

I agree the Mayor is a jerk and not only that he does not want to come out the closet, you see him in social special events with his "girlfriend" she always smiling but she is not allow to talk to the media probably because they have an agreement. The Mayor is totally GAY.

You all are a little late; he's already been re-elected, remember? Maybe instead of continuing to fight this battle, you should cut your losses and really try to help pigeons by getting out and feeding them, or advocating FOR them, rather than AGAINST Mike. Also, maybe less blog rants might help.

The whole purpose of these kinds of blogs is to advocate for the rights of all living things. To blog less would be reducing the clamor for change. Bloomberg is a rat in all sorts of ways. He's a misanthrope of the worst kind. He supports the powerful and well connected over the average NY resident. Not content with that he picks on the pigeons. So we often must fight hyperbole with hyperbole. He definitely can be compared to a rat.
I serious doubt that rats of the four legged kind would have any chance of competing with pigeons for food laid out for them. That's why the connection between feeding pigeons and rat infestations is so wrong.

Feeding Pigeons helps spread disease among the species and contributes to overpopulation.

You would be more honest with yourself and others if you would just admit that you like to feed the Pigeons, and you don't want to stop, regardless of the consequences or any one else's opinion.

Why is it so hard to believe that leaving a food product outdoors does not contribute to a problem with rats? This fact cannot be denied, so it becomes easier to just attack your mayor for his politics.
